On the night of 30 July, on the island of Qeshm, an American strike killed a family. Two parents, a young child. Three civilians.

Then the explosions followed one another. Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, Sirik, Abadan, Ahvaz. A “massive wave” of American strikes after five nights of pause. CENTCOM confirms. The targets: the Revolutionary Guards.

The American war machine is running at full capacity. On the surface.

The Real Number That Changes Everything

The U.S. military is not short of targets. It is short of ammunition.

In less than six months of conflict with Iran, the United States has consumed nearly 67% of its Patriot missile stockpiles. Around 35% of pre-war levels remain. THAAD interceptors are at their lowest. Tomahawks and JASSMs are becoming scarce. The Pentagon is rationing.

The annual production of Patriots โ€” 600 to 700 units โ€” is a drop in the ocean of this war. It will take years to rebuild stockpiles. And each night of strikes consumes more.

The numbers are stubborn. Stars and Stripes, ABC News, Defence Security Asia confirm them. The Pentagon knew it before the conflict even began. Stockpiles were already deemed insufficient in peacetime.

The Political Void

The Trump administration is bombing. But it is not negotiating.

No active diplomatic strategy. Oman did serve as an intermediary on 11 July, but the channel appears frozen. The Netanyahu-Trump meeting on 28 July reinforced support for Israel without leading to de-escalation. Meanwhile, Zelensky left Washington empty-handed after one hour and ten minutes. Netanyahu obtained nuclear evidence on Pickaxe Mountain. Zelensky got a handshake.

Two allies, two treatments. But one constant: behind the smiles, American diplomacy has no exit channel with Iran.

The Iranian Threat

The Revolutionary Guards have warned: the response will be immediate. Iran has not yet struck, but the wording is precise. “Punish the aggressor today.” Not “soon”. Not “in the coming days”. Today.

The question is no longer whether Iran will respond. It is when, how, and with what. And above all: will the United States still have the means to intercept?

The Fire That Is Dying Out

The embers are still glowing. The 30 July strikes are proof of that. But the fuel is running out. The United States continues to blow on the embers, night after night, wave after wave, with stockpiles melting faster than they are being rebuilt.

Iran, for its part, is waiting. It has not yet responded to this latest wave. Perhaps that is the real asymmetry: one is bombing on credit, the other is waiting with full stockpiles.

A war is not won by the number of strikes launched, but by the number of missiles remaining in the arsenals.
